Late 2023 Recipient – Kelly Kollar
Kelly Kollar and her family had their hot tub delivered in late November. Kelly, who lives in Carson City, is a Navy veteran who served from 1986 to 1993 maintaining equipment in Naval Intelligence. She currently works remotely for the Defense Health Agency, and has spent time as a volunteer for her local church. Kelly, who had back surgery previously, is looking forward to the soothing hydrotherapy, as well as using it to relax.
Early 2023 Recipient – Jason Kirmel-Long
Jason Kirmel-Long and his family had their hot tub delivered in February. Jason, who lives in Dayton with his husband, and their 2 dogs, is a Navy veteran who is considered 100% disabled due to neuropathic and back pain caused by injuries sustained during his service. He served from 1990 to 2005. He hopes the hot tub will relieve some of his pain and reduce his need for medications.

It’s official! We’re seeking candidates for our next Hot Tub donation! We plan to make our next hot tub donation in 2024 or 2025.
The Spa and Sauna Company, spa manufacturer Sundance Spas, and the charity Wish for Our Heroes, are seeking applications and nominations for a local veteran, who would like to have a hot tub donated to them.
Previous recipients include the Rogers family of Reno in 2018, the Vogt family in Sparks in 2019, the Kemp family of Reno, who was selected in 2020, but had her spa delivered in 2021, the Robbins family of Sparks in 2022, the Kirmel-Long family of Dayton in early 2023, and the Kollar family of Carson City in late 2023. All have selected a Sundance Hamilton 780 Spa.
The Spa and Sauna Company is honored to participate in the program again.
“It’s enormously satisfying to give back to the community we have served for so many years,” said Spa and Sauna Company Owner Scott Clark.
Wish for Our Heroes is “a national 501(c)(3), dedicated to providing resources to the “average” active-duty military member, in order to make their deployments a little easier, and to improve the quality of their family lives while home or during deployment,” according to their website.
“Sundance Spas also chose to partner up with Wish for Our Heroes because most of the donations goes to the cause. 100% of individual donations and 95% of corporate donations go directly toward granting wishes. They’re an amazing group and we couldn’t have asked for a better partner,” said James Choi, Channel Marketing Manager for Sundance Spas.
